Be ready to step outside your comfort zone!
Why White Salmon
The Columbia River Gorge is FULL of awesome rivers to learn and train on. With several rivers within a short drive, we can pick the run that best fits the group and the flows each day. River sections depend on snowpack, weather and water levels. In April, we’re typically able to run sections of the White Salmon, Wind and Hood Rivers.
It’s the perfect place to make the jump from solid Class III to confident Class IV.
What you’ll work on
- Bomb-proof rolling. Rolling in real current, holes and squirrelly water, not just flatwater.
- The boof. Timing, body position and getting over ledges and holes with confidence.
- Water reading and scouting. How to scout, pick your line and make a plan, from shore and from your boat.
- Making your moves. Ferries, eddy catches and boat control when it counts.
- Leadership and safety. Running harder water as a group, with signals and positioning.
Who this clinic is for
This clinic is for paddlers who are solid on Class III and ready to step into Class IV.
Requirements: Participants must be comfortable paddling Class III/IV whitewater or higher, with a consistent roll (90% or better in whitewater).
